CalvinsBrew Explain why I think it's a bad idea. ID Verification should be a requirement for badge. And not everything being communicated is bad. Removing badge after display name change is good. But if they were serious about impersonation they'd be using KYC services.

CalvinsBrew And prioritising content based on one-off $8? When one tweet that stays up for 5 minutes can drain your entire wallet? Worth it for the scammers. They just provided an easy way to get "trust" for free for these adversarial players. Only for money.

CalvinsBrew Remember: Blockbuster didn't want to give up the profit of the late fees and ended up losing the entire business. Cannibalizing the trust of the service for measly $8 a month is a dangerous, life-defining move for a service. Especially when you still depend so heavily on ads.
